Samsung reveals new foldable OLED screen phone

Samsung has developed a new cell phone that opens like a book to reveal a larger OLED screen. This essentially allows a user to turn the phone into a portable media player. The prototype was demonstrated by Samsung at the FPD International 2008 tech trade show in Japan.

When closed, the device looks like a normal cell phone, and has a small screen and a menu of icons, with the appearance of a touch screen. But when the phone unfolds, a flexible OLED screen about five inches across is displayed. The flexibility of the OLED screen, allows the phone to have one larger screen, instead of two seperate screens. It is ideal and large enough to browse the internet, watch movies and even play games.

The phone is a prototype and it is not clear if, or when, the device may go into production, or not.
